RESCUETIME REVIEWS 2020: Great App To Focus On Work?

Do you easily get distracted from work? Are you frustrated about not getting more work done? The ability to stay focused on a single task is a valuable skill that few people have. There are very few who can master it because it can be easy working on multiple tasks. You may have come across some RescueTime reviews, which is a time-saving app. RescueTime can be a great way to save you time from easy distractions.

RescueTime Reviews

RescueTime is a time tracking app that can help you monitor distractions, such as using cell phones and distracting websites. The idea started with a few friends asking themselves where all of their time went in a single day. Having realized that some days can go by quickly, they were left wanting to save an extra hour or two a day. Therefore, the RescueTime tool developed and has become a useful time-saving tool.

These days, the modern-day workplace can be stressful, less productive, and possibly burnout as well. RescueTime has addressed some of these issues over the years. As a result, the app has helped users save hours of their time. Similar to my review on the Freedom app, I will go over the following points on the RescueTime app:

1.) Top features

2.) Pricing

3.) Pros & cons

4.) Overall rating & review

RescueTime Reviews: Key features

RescueTime gives you a helpful screenshot of your tracked time between your productive and distracting time frames. It can help you determine where you spend your time efficiently. More so, to move away from unnecessary distractions. Keep in mind some of these features are included with a premium account (see below for pricing details).

Automatic time tracking

RescueTime Reviews- 1

With automated time tracking, there is no need to enter your tasks manually. Rescue Time keeps track of every minute of your activity spent on electronic devices. You’ll know where your time is spent on websites, apps, and or other distracting browsers that may plunge your productivity.

Goals & alerts

With RescueTime, it’s a “free form” app that allows you to spend time the way you want. Whether that’s setting time to write a report for one hour, or going through email for less than half an hour. With the goals put in place, you can track your progress daily, along with receiving a weekly summary of your activities.

FocusTime distraction blocker

RescueTime Reviews- 2

The FocusTime feature allows you to block distracting websites during peak periods. If you need to set time to conduct deep work in the morning, FocusTime can be an excellent tool for deep work periods. This feature is only available in a premium subscription.

Customize your work hours

With RescueTime, you’re allowed to separate your working and non-working hours. Customizing your work hours will enable you to make the most of your productive time. Also, the app alerts you when you’re doing too much work outside of your work hours.

Offline time

RescueTime Reviews- 3

As part of the premium subscription, RescueTime automatically asks you to enter non-productive activities to your dashboard. Whether that’s meetings, breaks, or going out for a walk, RescueTime can track these activities.

Pricing

RescueTime offers a free account, along with a premium account for individuals and teams.

  • RescueTime Lite (Free)

With a lite account, it gives you a basic understanding of how your time is spent. Also, it’s limited to only three months of historical data so that you won’t get an overall review of a year’s worth of work.

  • RescueTime Premium ($9/month, or $72 annually)

Going premium allows you to optimize your day and maximize your productivity so you can focus better. RescueTimeoffers a 14-day free trial to try out their additional features, such as FocusTime, custom work hours, and offline time tracking.

  • RescueTime for Businesses ($6/month per team member)

For business owners and managers who want to optimize their team’s productivity, RescueTime for business can be a wise investment to look into. This plan comes with all premium features and uncovers inefficient processes. One highlight of the business plan is protecting employee privacy information. So that’s a nice extra layer of security. The business plan comes with a 30-day free trial.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Available on all electronic devices and software systems (Google Play, IOS; iPhone, Android, macOS, Windows. Linux, etc.)
  • Privacy protection (as part of RescueTime for Orgs)

Cons

  • Key features available in premium only
  • Not quite user-friendly (some bugs here and there), so a bit of a learning curve
  • More suited for teams than individuals- individual plans can only cover a limited set of customized tasks

Overall Review: Not a must-have, but worth starting with a free account

Rating: 6.5/10

Overall, RescueTime is one of the most efficient apps for saving time and maximizing your productivity. Though not meant to be a micro-managing device, it’s a great tool to keep track of your time more effectively. I like how it shows your productivity pulse on your dashboard. It can show whether your productive time went up. It’s nice that they offer a free account for those who aren’t willing to purchase a premium plan yet.

RescueTime- Chart

As a user of the app, I’ve used RescueTime for a couple of weeks now. I initially signed up for a free account, and then I signed up for the free two-week premium trial. Though I like the extra features, I find myself not using them as much as I need to. So I think when my two-week free trial is up, I may switch back to a lite account in the interim. You’ll have to use it for some time before you see the benefits real in, and that’s what matters most.

So what do you think of RescueTime? Remember, they offer a free account (RescueTime Lite) if you don’t want to invest anything yet.

Check out their end of the month special to sign up for a premium. But if you want to try out for free, sign up today for a two-week free trial.

  1. The amount of times I’ve searched for some time-saving apps, but especially ones that could blocks certain apps (such as social media) for a certain amount of time and during my research I never came across this one, so I think I may need to give it a try. Though, I wish it was more centralized on daily activities such as: grocery shopping, walks, outdoor activities, car rides, etc. Something that would measure the time that I spend doing said tasks. Aside from that, it sounds like a really high-quality productivity app.

Though the app may not be perfect, it sure has its upsides to it. Also, note with a premium account- the app can track some of your activities offline. So even if you were out and about, the app could track those activities. I haven’t tried premium myself, but I’m sure there’s something it functions appropriately.

If you end up trying it out, feel free to reach out and let me know. I’d love to hear about your experience.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. They are much appreciated!

  2. To be honest, I get distracted a lot and I have been looking for ways to make myself more focused during my working hours. This app would be of great use to me but it seems we would get more use from it if we get the paid version rather than the free version. Having said that, the pricing is really cheap and should not be a problem to anyone looking to manage their time the right way and be more productive. I like this app and I think I am going to go for it.

    • That’s great to hear, Manuel.

I hear what you’re saying- you’re not the only one who gets distracted. A lot of people struggle with it, and Rescuetime can be a good solution for that. I use the app daily and it helps me keep track of time I spent working.

I’m glad to hear you’re going to give the app a try. If you come back to visit, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you for sharing your feedback- much appreciated!

  3. Hi Eric!

Funny thing happened in the middle of reading this article, I got distracted by three emails on my phone then ended up jumping on social media for a minute. An app like ResuceTime could be beneficial to me! Thought after reading through the review, I feel like my iPhone can do this for me for free. I get a Screen Time alert weekly to show my average time on all my apps and even broken into categories. Unless RescueTime will lock me out of my other apps I think I will stick with what comes standard with my iPhone!

    • Thank you, Jordan. I’m glad to know you enjoyed reading the post.

Yes, your situation is all too common these days. Those distractions do come out and about, which can be annoying. But it can be controlled and limited with something like RescueTime. I use it personally, and I’ve gotten a lot of benefits out of it. The iPhone feature (screen time alert) is excellent as well.

If you’re interested in checking out RescueTime, give it a try! You might be surprised by the results you get.

Thanks for sharing your input- much appreciated!
